Welcome to the Band Booster Section!
The purpose of the BJHS Band Boosters is to support the Band Program and the Band Directors at Bob Jones High School and to raise funds for the Band's operating expenses, uniforms, and instruments. The Boosters also provide Band students the opportunity to raise funds to pay for their Band fees and other Band activities. We also have LOTS OF FUN, chaperoning games and trips, helping with uniforms, organizing social events, and even running concession stands. Every parent of a student in the Band Program, which includes Band Students, Color Guard, and Dance Team, is a member of the Band Boosters. All Boosters are encouraged to attend Booster meetings the second or third Thursday of the month (7:00 pm in the Band room) and to get involved in the Band Program. It's a great program, with great students, and they deserve our support!
The Band Boosters' primary means of communication with the students and parents is email. BJHS Band Booster email will have the latest updates on activities. Parent and student email addresses are obtained from registration forms completed in the Spring. To view a listing of the Band Booster emails sent out this year, click on the following link. Please notify the Band Booster Secretary when your email address changes.

Chaperone Instructions
Welcome to the Bob Jones Band! We need you!
When you chaperone it’s a great way to meet other parents and assist the band students!
A lot of parents sign up to be chaperones and we try to use as many as possible. Unfortunately, not all parents who sign up for a game will be able to chaperone for that game. Unless you are contacted by the Chaperone Coordinator, please do not assume you have chaperone duties. We will try and contact those not chosen and place them as chaperones for another event, if their schedules allow it.
Arrival for home games
Please arrive at designated time. We meet in the Band Room where you will pick up your chaperone badge from the Chaperone Coordinator and get bus assignments.
When we arrive at the Stadium, help put out seat covers. When students arrive they will be under the direction of the Directors. Please do not disturb the Directors, if there is a problem please contact the Chaperone Coordinator, or one of the Band Booster Officers.
After the seat covers are placed, please be ready to assist with any uniform preparation. We have many band members to assist, plus guard and dance team.
Seat Covers
Seat covers keep our white uniforms white.
There will be someone in charge of seat covers each game.
Seat covers will be rolled out, tubes placed in seat cover containers.
Before each game, covers are to be wiped off with paper towels. At the end of the game, roll them up and return them to the seat cover containers.
If it rains, we need to pull the seat covers out to dry following the game.
Please do not let students stand on the seat covers. Cynthia Larson
is in charge of uniforms, she will direct you if you have questions concerning uniforms.
Uniforms
No one eats or drinks in their uniform.
- Full uniform is jacket on; jackets do not come off unless the Directors give permission.
- Students are to have on a clean plain white t-shirt under their band uniform, no “wife beaters” (sleeveless t-shirts).
- Students may need assistance with zipping their jackets.
- No student is to have on jewelry, no necklaces or bracelets. Only small earrings are acceptable.
- Everyone’s hair must be under his or her sheko; guys with long hair will have to put it in a ponytail and use bobbie pins if necessary.
Plumes - Please always wear gloves when putting on or taking off.
· Please have students get in a line for pluming, clusters cause added confusion. Two lines move a lot faster.
· Sue Bartlow will direct when plumes are to be places and removed.
· Student’s do not touch or remove the plumes.
· After plumes are placed on, double check students to see that they are zipped, hooked, shoes are laced and that they are ready.
· All uniform equipment will be loaded on the truck, after the game. Plumes are placed tubes, then in containers.
Water
Students will be given water during the game. The Director’s will give instructions as to when the students will get water.
Trash Detail
No band student is to eat in the stands. At the end of the game students are to place their water bottle in a trash bag as they exit the stands. Every chaperone will be given a trash bag; please stand at the end of the aisles, so students can drop trash in the bag as they exit. All the chaperones are responsible to seeing that the area is clean when we leave.
Restroom
Band students should go to the restroom before the game. If an emergency arises during the game, please contact a Band Officer.
White Chain
The band section is for the band and chaperones only. If you stand at the chain please ask parents and non-band students to stay on the other side.
End of Game
Seat covers need to be rolled up, and placed in container. All trash needs to be collected. Check for any items that may have been left in the stands. Go home and collapse!
Departing and returning from away games
Arrive at school at designated time
- Help load buses - we will load coolers, water and other supplies.
- Lead Chaperones for each bus will be responsible for checking off the students as they load the bus. Please ask if they have all their uniform and instrument. We have arrived without an instrument.
- Students must clean the bus before they are allowed to exit the bus, the bus must be swept out.
- At the end of the evening, lead chaperones will return the clipboard and badges to chaperone coordinator.
When we arrive at our destination, the Directors will give instructions as to a rest room break and getting changed into uniforms. An adult must accompany students to the restrooms, please remind students that they are representing Bob Jones High School at all times.
Be sure that when we leave the stadium, you check off students as they get on the bus. Check for items left behind.
No boy/girl combinations in bus seats after dark - no exceptions!
If a student is not returning on the bus following an away game or competition, he/she must give their chaperone a note signed by their parents with specific travel plans BEFORE they may leave. The Directors must also be made aware of this. A parent must be present before you allow the student to leave.
Competitions
All of the above and then some! Details will be provided to those chaperoning competitions.
General FYI
Parents of band members are not to be in the stands with the band students or in the band area during the game. If a band member needs to get a message, you may give it to them for the parent.
- Have fun with the band members, no yelling.
- No smoking, foul language or alcohol.
- Band members may not have cell phones in the stands.
- If concession workers need help in the concession stand, you may need to go there, please remember, this where much of the band’s income comes from.
- Assist as requested with moving the pit, moving auxiliary equipment or whatever is requested of you.
- You are there to assist everyone, band, guard and dance team.
- We are trying to get everyone involved this year, so if you are not asked to chaperone every game, please don’t get upset. There is plenty to do for everyone.
- The Directors will dismiss the band at the end of the game.
- If you cannot make it to the game please call the Chaperone Coordinator several hours before the game so she can get a replacement.
Thanks for all you do! Everyone is important to the success of the Bob Jones Band!!!!!!!!!!!
