Drum Major(s)
Drum Major(s) are members in good
standing of the Band and display excellent leadership skills with the Band. The
Band Director appoints the Drum Major(s) after auditions in the spring. Drum
Major(s) attend a Drum Major Camp prior to Band Camp.
Drill Techs
Marching Band members who possess
leadership abilities and who are members in good standing of the Band are
appointed to this position by the Band Director after auditions in the spring.
His/her duties are to be marching instructors for the Marching Band.
Color Guard Captain
The Captain and the Co-captain are
chosen by the sponsors with the approval of the Band Director. These positions
are appointed based on leadership abilities and may be left unfilled at the
discretion of the sponsors and the Band Director. In this instance, any Guard
member designated by the sponsor is treated as Captain during that practice
time.
Section Leaders
Section Leaders are appointed by the
Band Director after auditions. The student earning the highest audition score
in his/her section is appointed the Section Leader for the following year. The
duties of the Section Leader are to assist the Band Director and the Field
Commander(s) in the instruction and rehearsal of his/her section, be in charge
of all sectional rehearsals, check section members' marching abilities, and set
a good and proper example for their section.
Band Council
The Band Council consists of the
Section Leaders, Drum Major(s), and Drill Techs, and will act as representatives
of the Band, and in this capacity, shall help advise the Director when needed.
