
Doyle Thornton - Director

Mr. Doyle Thornton is the director of the Bob
Jones Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. Mr. Thornton is a 1968 graduate of
Northside High School in Warner Robins, Ga. While there, he was twice selected
to the Georgia High School All-State Band and was also selected as a Governor's
Honors Student majoring in music. He attended the University of Southern
Mississippi and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1972. He
has been involved in post graduate studies at Troy State University, the State
University of West Georgia, Florida State University and Auburn University,
where he received his Masters in 2004. Mr. Thornton came to Bob Jones in 1989
and began teaching with seventeen students. Prior to his tenure here, Mr.
Thornton taught in Georgia at Americus, Cairo, and Valdosta High Schools. He
was selected as Alabama's representative for Fifty Who Made a Difference in
Music Education by School Band and Orchestra Magazine in 2001. |
